Job description

Summary

Accenture Federal Services is a technology company serving the US federal government and its defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health missions. The Software Engineer will support the operation, maintenance, enhancement, troubleshooting, and modernization of the CMS Health Insurance Oversight System in a complex federal production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, document, and maintain secure, production-quality software
  • Develop and support Java/Spring backend services, APIs, business logic, database integrations, and React- or Angular-based user interfaces
  • Analyze existing code and system behavior to diagnose complex application, integration, data, and performance issues
  • Support legacy production applications while contributing to incremental modernization and maintainability improvements
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, database objects, and data-access components using PostgreSQL
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, defect resolution, release preparation, deployment validation, and production support
  • Work within AWS-hosted environments and established continuous integration and continuous delivery processes using Jenkins and GitHub

Skills

  • The role requires strong Java and Spring experience, proficiency with both React and Angular front-end technologies, and experience developing data-driven applications using PostgreSQL
  • Bachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant software development experience
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy production systems on a federal program, including working within formal security, release, change-control, and operational-support processes
  • Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills are important, as the developer will need to balance new development with production stability and continuity of service
  • Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
