We are seeking an Electrical Software Test Engineer to join our Software Validation and Testing Team. In this role, you will support component level and spacecraft level testing, working across multiple AST engineering divisions. You will collaborate closely with software developers and internal engineering teams to assist in the development, testing, and deployment of vehicle software using hardware in the loop (HIL) and software in the loop (SIL) testing techniques. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about electrical systems, testing, and spacecraft operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute tests on component level and spacecraft level platforms.
  • Document test results, including post processing data and generating test reports.
  • Support investigations of test failures, anomalies, and root cause analysis.
  • Assist in developing test plans, procedures, and documentation.
  • Serve as the onsite electrical engineering representative during testing activities.
  • Ensure safe and effective use of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).
  • Track project deliverables and support test team coordination.
  • Provide technical guidance and uphold industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, and software engineers to support integrated operations and resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with electrical test tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and DC power supplies.
  • Ability to read and analyze electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
  • Comfort with version control systems, preferably Git.
  • Familiarity with command line tools and working in Linux or Windows environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in RF engineering.
  • Understanding of HIL/SIL testing concepts.
  • Ability to design simple PCBs for testing or engineering tasks.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering verification and validation principles.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with Speedgoat, dSPACE, or similar testing platforms.
  • Familiarity with environmental health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of grounding and ESD procedures.
  • Experience working in lab and cleanroom environments.

Soft Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in test execution, documentation, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new tools and testing techniques.

Technology Stack

  • Programming: C/C++, Python
