Summary
Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, and they are seeking a Data Science Analyst 1 to support the expansion of the department's computational capabilities and the development of AI-driven health research initiatives. The role involves analyzing complex healthcare datasets, collaborating with clinical researchers, and contributing to grant proposals and scientific publications.
Responsibilities
- Apply machine learning and statistical methods to analyze complex healthcare datasets
- Collaborate with clinical researchers and faculty to design and implement data-driven research projects
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for processing medical imaging, EHR data, genomics, and patient monitoring data
- Contribute to grant proposals and scientific publications
- Support the development of predictive models for clinical applications
- Participate in collaborative research initiatives with clinical departments
- Document methodologies and create reproducible analysis workflows
- Present findings to research teams and at scientific conferences
- Collaborate with clinicians, educators, and administrators to frame problems, understand data needs, and interpret model outputs
- Translate insights into operational recommendations through dashboards, briefings, and stakeholder presentations
Skills
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- OR
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field and one year of related experience
- Prior involvement in healthcare, academic operations, or public sector analytics
- Familiarity with EHR systems (Epic, Encompass) or academic admissions systems (AMCAS)
- Experience Working With Clinical, Academic, Or Institutional Datasets Preferred
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex technical findings for non-technical stakeholders
