Job description

Summary

Blu Omega delivers technology and cybersecurity solutions to federal agencies and enterprise clients. The Data Engineer will develop and maintain cloud-based data pipelines, ETL workflows, database solutions, and data integrations supporting modernization of the CaseTRAC system. The role also involves troubleshooting data issues, documenting technical solutions, and participating in Agile development and operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain Python- and SQL-based data pipelines and ETL workflows
  • Support data integration and processing using AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related services
  • Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models
  • Support database normalization, query optimization, and data integrity controls
  • Translate business and technical requirements into well-documented technical solutions
  • Investigate and resolve data quality, integration, and performance issues
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution documentation, interface specifications, data-flow diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, manage Jira tasks, and collaborate with team members through code reviews and testing
  • Apply established development, security, testing, and documentation standards
  • Support delivery as an individual contributor without direct team management or technical leadership responsibilities

Skills

  • Proficiency developing data pipelines and ETL workflows using Python and SQL
  • Experience with database design, schema development, data modeling, normalization, and query optimization
  • Ability to translate business and technical requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and solution-design skills
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation and present technical information effectively
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to work as a W-2 employee
  • Intermediate experience gathering requirements in an Agile environment
  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense
  • Experience in secure, compliance-driven, government, or mission-focused environments
  • Familiarity with AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related cloud services
  • Experience with Jira, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD practices
  • Exposure to data-quality monitoring, operational support, or cloud-native application development
  • AWS certification or relevant cloud training
