Summary
Blu Omega supports federal agencies in delivering mission-critical technology solutions to improve public services and operational efficiency. The Manual Tester will execute manual testing activities for a federal veteran benefits program, including developing test plans, performing functional and integration testing, tracking defects, and collaborating with cross-functional Agile teams.
Responsibilities
- Review requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and design documentation to understand expected system behavior and testing needs
- Develop and execute manual test cases, test scenarios, and test plans based on functional and business requirements
- Perform functional, system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
- Validate defect fixes through retesting and regression testing to ensure issues are resolved prior to release
- Collaborate with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of testing activities, results, defects, and resolution status
- Support continuous improvement of testing processes, documentation, and quality standards
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate effectively across cross-functional delivery teams
Skills
- 2+ years of experience in manual testing, quality assurance, or software testing
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and SDLC/STLC
- Hands-on experience developing and executing test cases, test scenarios, and test plans
- Experience performing functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT
- Experience using defect and issue tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience supporting federal government programs or regulated environments
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- Basic understanding of APIs, web services, databases, and backend systems
- Exposure to test automation concepts, frameworks, or tools
- Experience with usability and accessibility testing, including Section 508 or WCAG standards
