Summary
Castillo Engineering is an engineering firm delivering utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects across the United States. The Structural Engineer I will perform structural analysis and design, prepare engineering documentation, support permitting and construction activities, and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural engineering analysis and design for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects
- Assist in the preparation of structural calculations, engineering reports, and construction drawings
- Support the design of racking systems, equipment foundations, module supports, and balance-of-system structural components
- Review geotechnical reports, site conditions, and loading requirements under the guidance of senior engineers
- Collaborate with electrical, civil, and project management teams to support integrated project execution
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews throughout the design process
- Assist with engineering change evaluations and construction support activities
- Develop technical knowledge of applicable building codes, industry standards, and renewable energy design practices
- Support permitting efforts and engineering documentation for project approvals
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architectural Engineering
- 1-3 years of structural engineering experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- Ability to obtain within one year
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as RISA, STAAD, SAP2000, or similar tools
- AutoCAD experience
- Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, and structural engineering principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, remote environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, power delivery, or renewable energy projects
- Exposure to steel, concrete, and foundation design
- Familiarity with solar racking systems and foundation solutions
- Experience preparing engineering documentation for permitting or construction
