City of Fort Wayne is seeking an intern for their Social Media Marketing/Parks and Recreation department. The role involves supporting marketing efforts with a focus on social media strategy, content creation, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and adapt content ideas into organized content calendars across Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn
- Create engaging graphics, short- and long-form video, captions, hashtags, and links aligned with brand standards and program goals
- Monitor comments and messages to support positive, timely, and accurate community engagement
- Assist with tracking analytics, evaluating engagement trends, and recommending improvements to increase reach and impact
- Support social media campaigns tied to department events, programs, and seasonal initiatives
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent, with college coursework or training in Marketing, Communications, Media Relations, Journalism, English, Graphic design or related field
- Experience using major social media platforms for content creation and engagement
- Strong writing skills with the ability to create age-appropriate, family-friendly content
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in public-facing communications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Understanding of marketing principles, media relations, and social media analytics
- Awareness of audience behavior and content consumption trends across platforms
- Valid Indiana Driver's License (if operating a City vehicle)
