Summary

Coefficient is a VC-backed startup building the next generation of data software. They are seeking an Early Product Engineer to work directly with the founders in defining product direction, building core systems, and shipping end-to-end experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of problems—from idea to production
  • Are relentlessly curious and think from first principles
  • Move quickly, make decisions, and iterate without perfect specs
  • Care deeply about product quality, UX, and craft
  • Thrive in ambiguity and low-structure environments

Skills

  • 2–4 years of experience building production web applications
  • Proficiency in modern web stacks (e.g. TypeScript, React, Node.js)
  • Experience with backend systems and APIs (e.g. Python, Flask, or similar)
  • Comfortable working with data-intensive applications and distributed systems
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and move across the stack as needed
  • Solid understanding of performance, system design, and scalability
  • Experience building and shipping production systems
