Summary
Cupertino Electric, Inc. delivers complex turnkey electrical solutions and energy projects. The CAD Designer II supports the design and drafting of solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system projects, producing construction drawings and site layouts while coordinating with consultants and providing engineering support through design and construction. The role also follows QAQC processes and contributes to CAD standards and workflow development.
Responsibilities
- Perform design and drafting tasks assigned by Designers or Engineers
- Perform design of construction drawings including but not limited to equipment layouts, electrical site plans, and electrical diagrams
- Independently produce and manage site layouts from proposal to as-built
- Coordinate with civil and structural consultants to collect and consolidate the necessary information for system layout development
- Assemble design drawings and documents and provide or coordinate delivery
- Provide engineering support through design and construction phases
- Follow QAQC processes through design and construction phases
- May occasionally attend site visits as needed
- Maintain professional and technical development goals
- Participate in the development and maintenance of CAD standards and templates
- Develop understanding of the engineering department's design and CAD workflows
- Develop understanding of various state and national codes governing our work
- Develop understanding of CEI's business inter-department functions
- Provide conformance to the standards and processes outlined by the CAD Manager
Skills
- Track record of passion for renewable energy projects
- 3-5 years working for an electrical design firm or design build electrical contractor
- Solar electrical systems background
- AutoCAD (advanced proficiency)
- Microsoft Office Applications (advanced proficiency)
- Immaculate file management skills
- Meticulous work habits including close attention to detail, superior organizational skills, ability to effectively communicate and present technical information verbally and in writing via Microsoft Office applications (mainly Excel and Word)
- Excellent time management and people skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- 3-5 years designing for an electrical design firm or design build electrical contractor
- Engineering Bachelor of Science degree (preferred)
