Summary
EPAM Systems is a global technology services company delivering international projects for leading brands through diverse, highly skilled teams. The Engineer will develop and optimize Unreal Engine user interface systems, collaborate with designers and artists, contribute to architectural decisions, and support stable, high-quality game development.
Responsibilities
- Create and build user interface systems that deliver smooth and responsive experiences for players
- Work with designers and artists to turn visual concepts into functioning in-game interfaces
- Develop and sustain reusable UI components capable of scaling across various project requirements
- Identify and address performance issues connected to UI rendering and interaction
- Take part in code reviews to help maintain consistent quality standards
- Weigh in on architectural choices related to UI frameworks and design patterns
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions support gameplay and product objectives
- Record technical approaches and best practices to guide UI development within the team
- Explore and resolve issues that surface during development and testing
- Assist with integrating new features while preserving overall system stability
Skills
- - At least 2 years of relevant experience
- - Solid understanding of the distinctions between C++ and Blueprints, along with insight into when each approach fits best
- - Strong knowledge of MVVM, MVC, and Common UI systems, including how they differ and when each is most suitable
- - C++ experience, whether gained specifically within Unreal Engine or through other engineering work
- - Capability to combine UMG and C++ to develop new UI widgets, ideally connected to MVVM or MVC structures
- - Familiarity with effective versus problematic practices in UI development
- - Knowledge of Mini Maps, including their placement and implementation in relation to UI
- - Skilled in building different UI widgets, including HUD and world-space types, with an understanding of how their implementation approaches differ
- - Experience fine-tuning UI for better performance
- - Experience using Unreal Insights for profiling and troubleshooting
- - Excellent English proficiency (B2 level or higher)
- - Familiarity with AI assistants
- - Background in the gaming industry
