About the company

Fabric develops an AI-powered healthcare platform for virtual care, patient intake, scheduling, and care coordination across providers.

Job description

Summary

Fabric is a company focused on building technology that enhances healthcare delivery. They are looking for mid-level and above engineers to design and own production systems that improve patient care and make critical technical decisions in a healthcare context.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own production systems that are reliable, secure, and performant under real clinical load
  • Make high-stakes technical decisions with incomplete information, weigh the tradeoffs explicitly, and stand behind them
  • Raise the bar around you through code review, design guidance, and the standards you hold, whether or not you carry a formal leadership title
  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and clinical experts to turn ambiguous problems into clear, well-tested solutions
  • Debug and harden complex systems, and put safeguards in place so the same failure cannot happen twice
  • Contribute to the technical direction of your team and, at the staff and principal levels, help set the architectural direction for the platform

Skills

  • 3+ Professional software engineering experience, with a clear record of building and owning production systems (level within the range is set by depth and scope)
  • Demonstrable, recent professional depth in one or more modern languages and frameworks, with the ability to name the systems you built and your role on them
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, testing, and building for reliability, performance, and security
  • Experience collaborating across product, design, and domain experts to ship real software against ambiguous requirements
  • Sound engineering judgment, especially about tradeoffs, failure modes, and the consequences of the systems you own
  • Experience building software in healthcare, or in another high-stakes, highly regulated, or safety-critical domain
  • A demonstrated ability to become productive in a new stack quickly
  • Experience with conversational agents, real-time systems, or systems handling race conditions, locking, and other complex concurrency concerns
  • A background in computer science or a related field
