Job description
Summary
Fantom Corporation is a mission-focused organization supporting critical programs across the defense and intelligence community. They are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Systems Engineer to manage and support application infrastructure while ensuring compliance and security requirements are met. The role involves providing 24/7 operational support and implementing technical standards across multiple network environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools
- Monitor system performance, identify issues or bottlenecks, and implement improvements to maintain system reliability
- Maintain security controls, backup processes, and disaster recovery capabilities to protect systems and data
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline operations and increase efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving hardware, software, and network components
- Collaborate with development teams, leadership, and other stakeholders to understand system needs and deliver solutions
- Create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and architecture
- Evaluate new and emerging technologies to support system enhancements or future implementations
Skills
- At least two years of experience in a systems engineering or related role
- Strong working knowledge of network infrastructure, server administration, and virtualization technologies
- Experience using scripting or automation tools such as Python
- Ability to analyze complex environments and assess technical tradeoffs
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Must be fully cleared with a recent polygraph
- Must be willing and able to work fully onsite at the location listed in this posting
- Must be willing to provide 24/7 on call support
