Job Summary:GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking a Test Cell Operations Intern for Summer 2027. This role will support engine, powertrain, and component testing in a high-performance development environment. This role is hands-on and learning-focused, working closely with engineers and technicians to assist in operating test cells, preparing hardware, and collecting data. It is ideal for students interested in motorsports or high-performance automotive engineering.

Job Location: On-Site in Concord, NC
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist engineers and technicians in executing test plans and procedures.
- Support installation and removal of engines, gearboxes, and components in test cells.
- Help prepare test cells, tooling, and instrumentation for scheduled tests.
- Observe and assist with operation of engine and powertrain dyno systems under supervision.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of test setups and report issues to senior staff.
- Collect, organize, and document test data accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and basic upkeep of test cell areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and company standards during testing activities.
- Communicate progress and issues clearly with the test team.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
- Strong interest in engines, powertrains, or motorsports engineering.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience (school projects, labs, clubs, or personal work).
- Familiarity with engines, drivetrains, or vehicle systems (academic or extracurricular).
- Willingness to learn test cell operations and automation tools
- Exposure to dyno testing, data acquisition, or MATLAB through coursework or projects.
