Summary
GuidePoint Security provides cybersecurity expertise, solutions, and services that help organizations minimize risk and improve their security posture. The Security Data and Analytics Engineer will implement, optimize, and support data pipelines and analytics platforms, including data-source integrations, transformation workflows, data-quality controls, and client-facing technical delivery.
Responsibilities
- Configure and support data ingestion from applications, infrastructure, cloud services, security tools, and business systems using agents, APIs, webhooks, syslog, object storage, message queues, and native integrations
- Develop and maintain pipelines that collect, route, filter, enrich, transform, mask, aggregate, and deliver data to supported destinations
- Implement parsing, field extraction, schema mapping, timestamp handling, data-type conversion, and normalization for structured and unstructured data
- Validate data completeness, consistency, accuracy, timeliness, and destination delivery while troubleshooting malformed, duplicated, delayed, or missing data
- Contribute to reusable pipeline patterns, parsers, transformation logic, validation routines, data dictionaries, and implementation standards
- Participate in data architecture assessments and document source inventories, data flows, dependencies, ownership, quality issues, and recommendations
- Maintain awareness of data pipeline, analytics, log-management, observability, cloud, and emerging AI-enabled data technologies
- Execute technical work across multiple client environments while managing delivery priorities, dependencies, and source-system coordination
- Communicate data-quality issues, technical risks, progress, and scope considerations to technical leads, project managers, and client stakeholders
- Support regional delivery priorities and collaborate with SecOps engineers when data pipelines support SIEM, detection, investigation, or automation requirements
Skills
- * Two to five years of experience in data engineering, log management, observability, analytics engineering, platform engineering, or a related field
- * Hands-on experience with at least one data pipeline, analytics, log-management, or observability platform
- * Experience onboarding data sources and troubleshooting ingestion, transformation, processing, or destination-delivery issues
- * Experience working with structured and unstructured data formats such as JSON, XML, CSV, key-value data, syslog, or CEF
- * Understanding of APIs, authentication, certificates, service accounts, network connectivity, and integration concepts
- * Basic scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or a similar language
- * Familiarity with SQL, platform-specific query languages, or data transformation languages
- * Bachelor's degree in data engineering, information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional and military experience
- * Embraces emerging technologies, including AI tools, to work smarter, solve problems, and drive better business outcomes
- * Up to 10% travel

- * Required to have close visual acuity to view computer terminal and/or extensive reading for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- * Data pipeline or routing certification from Cribl, Onum, Databahn, or comparable provider
- * Observability certification from Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, Elastic, or comparable provider
- * Cloud certification from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
- * Experience with data masking, retention, tiering, aggregation, sampling, or data-reduction strategies
- * Familiarity with cloud storage, streaming, and logging services
- * Client-facing consulting or professional service experience
- * Experience producing source inventories, data mappings, validation reports, pipeline diagrams, or technical documentation
