Job description

Summary

ICF is a global advisory and technology services provider that combines expertise with technology to help clients solve complex challenges. The Data Scientist Intern will support energy efficiency and load management programs for utilities by maintaining and enhancing predictive analytics models, analyzing large datasets, developing and validating code, and producing technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and enhancing predictive analytics models
  • Analyzing large datasets—spanning customer behavior, energy usage, and marketing performance to identify appropriate techniques, develop and execute code, validate outputs, and produce technical reports

Skills

  • A completed bachelor's degree plus enrollment verification or 9 credit hours complete in a Master's degree program within data science or similar discipline
  • All work must be performed in the U.S. per contract requirements
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Curiosity and a passion for solving complex problems with data
  • Able to exercise independent judgment
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Ability to effectively work in a diverse team of technologists and business stakeholders and explain technical concepts/solutions to non-technical client stakeholders
  • Takes initiative in learning complex systems and codebases, while actively seeking clarification and guidance to solve problems efficiently
  • A completed Master's degree program within data science or similar discipline
  • Enrollment verification or 9 credit hours complete in a Doctoral degree program within data science or similar discipline
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python or statistical modeling, data manipulation, and visualization
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, including branching strategies, pull requests, and repository management
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying relational databases
  • Strong understanding of predictive modeling techniques and machine learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with Docker for building and deploying containerized machine learning environments and applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services (e.g. Azure Databricks, Azure Batch, Azure Blob/Table Storage)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency, utilities, or environmental analytics a plus
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and building scalable data solutions
