Summary
ICF provides engineering and technology services that help electric utilities address complex power delivery challenges. The Substation Protection & Control Designer will design relay, protection, and control projects for high-voltage substations from 12kV to 500kV, prepare technical drawings, coordinate with engineering disciplines, incorporate vendor information, and support quality control processes.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the design and preparation of the following Protection and Control Drawings:
- Substation Relay One Lines and Three Lines
- AC/DC Schematics
- Substation Panel Layouts
- Substation Wiring Diagram and Cable Schedule
- SCADA and Communication Diagrams
- Point to Point Wiring Diagrams
- Coordination with physical, settings, and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverables
- Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables
- Apply client standards related to the work
- Perform/ensure company’s Quality assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are being followed on all design packages
- Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance
Skills
- AA or High School Diploma
- Experience with substation (transmission) design
- 3+ years of detailed wiring design experience, developing single lines, schematics and relay panels
- 3+ years of experience working with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation
- This position is fully remote and can only be performed in Puerto Rico only
- Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams to accurately perform point to point wiring requirements
- Ability to assist lead engineers with initial design requirements
- Advanced user of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, and Word
- Knowledge of the practical application of industry standards such as: NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints and drawings
