Software Engineer - III

Summary

Inside Real Estate is a fast-growing, independently owned real estate software firm that provides technology solutions for brokerages, agents, and teams. The Software Engineer - III will architect, implement, and debug full-stack software for the Marketplace Ads Team, primarily focusing on backend systems that help real estate agents manage leads. The role also involves developing internal features, stewarding the codebase, participating in scrum ceremonies, and collaborating with third-party partners and internal departments.

Responsibilities

• As an engineer on the Marketplace Ads Team, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and debugging software that helps real estate agents get, work, and manage new buyer/seller leads
• You’ll also be working on internal features that other departments at our company depend on in order to serve our real estate agents’ needs
• With every feature you implement, you will be finding ways to steward the codebase, creating examples of ideal architecture that can benefit the rest of the company and the engineers who come after you
• Actively participate in meetings and scrum ceremonies
• Represent the company when communicating with third-party partners
• Are not just okay with growth, but actively pursue it. We do code review and you will be expected to both give and receive feedback (This includes enforcing coding standards, even ones you may personally disagree with). You will be expected to take an active role in shaping the culture and helping improve our processes
• Pursue excellence in everything you do
• You understand and use patterns in code
• Continuously learn and develop software patterns and best practices including those with AI, while also protecting against and not settling for AI slop
• Have a high level of ownership over the work you are producing and a high level of initiative to both find solutions and participate in our meetings
• Are self-directed and don’t need much hand-holding after the initial onboarding
• Code defensively, trying to reduce/eliminate “broken windows”
• Are excited to help our agents, our other departments, and the company

Skills

• Experience developing with PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, MySQL
• Git, Docker, AWS
• This is a full-stack web dev role, though day-to-day work leans backend-heavy (~70%) — strong backend chops matter most here
• PHPUnit/TDD
• Good people skills and emotional intelligence
• Must be comfortable having camera on for some of our scrum ceremonies to connect regularly as a team (though you are definitely not expected to be on camera all the time)
• Are not just okay with growth, but actively pursue it.
