Job description

Summary

JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. The Kanban Project Manager will implement and execute transformational organizational outcomes by applying Agile methodologies, facilitating teams, managing Jira and Kanban workflows, and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Attend the meeting of the team you will be supporting (weekly or daily)
  • Create user stories to describe work items, with clear descriptions and acceptance criteria
  • Prioritize stories for the backlog and keep the team organized and focused
  • Conduct weekly meetings with stake holders and monitor the health of the Kanban board
  • Encourage team members to utilize JIRA for task management
  • Drive open communication with team members
  • Be the servant leader for the team members, mentoring/assisting them when needed
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and be “THE CHAMPION OF CHANGE”

Skills

  • The candidate will have demonstrated expertise and application of Agile methodologies, techniques and frameworks, a successful track record of driving and facilitating teams, commitment to continuous learning and mindset of relentless improvement
  • * Experience using Jira, Kanban or Sprint Board, Slack
  • * Excellent communication, analytical, mentoring and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum time commitment: 4 - 6 hours/ week, for a minimum 6 months

Benefits

  • Approximately six flexible hours per week
  • $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership
  • K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit
