Job description
Summary
DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company providing energy solutions for utility solar and broader energy industries, is seeking a Civil Estimator. The role develops detailed and competitive civil cost estimates for solar and battery energy storage projects, maintains estimating tools and data, collaborates with business development, engineering, and project delivery teams, and supports risk mitigation and project planning.
Responsibilities
- Support the refinement of civil estimating processes and templates to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Develop detailed civil cost estimates for solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects
- Maintain estimating tools, historical cost data, and productivity assumptions used to prepare estimates
- Prepare project cost estimates aligned with RFP requirements for utility-scale renewable energy projects
- Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate project opportunities and optimize project costs
- Identify project risks and support development of mitigation strategies
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, and estimate review sessions
- Conduct site visits as needed and document findings that improve estimate quality and project planning
Skills
- • Experience in heavy civil construction, estimating, construction management, and/or project management
- • Knowledge of cost estimating practices and estimating software such as InEight or similar platforms
- • Experience using takeoff software such as Bluebeam, AgTek, or similar tools
- • Understanding of earthwork, foundations, roads, drainage, and site development activities
- • Experience preparing or supporting project estimates for construction projects
- • Experience supporting civil construction projects within commercial, renewable energy, or utility-scale solar environments
- • Effective communication and collaboration skills
- • Experience working with field and engineering teams to improve estimating accuracy
- • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field
- • Experience leveraging generative AI to streamline workflows and improve outcomes
