Jr Software Engineer

Summary

Kopius is a leading organization in the property data analytics and geospatial technology industry, and they are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on developing a next-generation geospatial content production workflow platform, building scalable backend services, and improving platform reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Go, Python, and JavaScript following established technical patterns
• Support existing measurement pipelines by implementing bug fixes, minor enhancements, and performance improvements
• Contribute to workflow orchestration and processing features under the guidance of the Tech Lead and senior engineers
• Write well-tested code with strong unit and integration test coverage
• Debug and resolve issues within assigned services and platform components
• Participate in architectural and design discussions to better understand system context and contribute ideas
• Follow established coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback into implementations
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Communicate progress, blockers, and technical questions clearly with the Tech Lead
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and CloudOps teams to deliver assigned work

Skills

• 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience with one or more of Go, Python, and JavaScript, with the ability to work across backend services and APIs
• Experience contributing to backend systems or APIs in a production environment
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or similar tools
• Familiarity with workflow-driven systems or cloud-based application development
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and cloud-based deployment workflows
• Solid debugging and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Ability to work effectively within established technical direction while proactively seeking guidance when needed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Intermediate/Advanced English skills with strong communication abilities
• Self-motivated, quick learner, and adaptable to new technologies and legacy systems
• Thrives in a team environment, actively contributes to collaboration, fostering a sense of community
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to issue resolution
• Experience contributing to distributed systems, workflow orchestration, or job processing systems is a plus
• Exposure to high-throughput or high-concurrency service architectures is a plus
• Experience with Go or Python in production systems is a plus
• Experience utilizing modern AI-assisted and agentic coding tools and methodologies is a plus
• Experience collaborating across global engineering teams is a plus
