Summary
Leidos Gibbs & Cox delivers engineering, design, and maritime solutions in support of critical customer missions. The company is seeking a Marine Mechanical Engineer Level 2 to support the design, analysis, and integration of marine mechanical systems for naval and maritime platforms, including ship design, system development, and lifecycle engineering efforts.
Responsibilities
- Works independently (with moderate supervision), or on project teams
- Performs calculations applying mechanical engineering principles, procedures, and criteria
- Develops analyses and prepares technical reports and other engineering documentation
- Develops ship propulsion and auxiliary system calculations and designs and prepares technical purchase specifications for major equipment
- Supports engineering activities for systems that may include main and auxiliary propulsion, fuel systems, lubrication systems, seawater and freshwater systems, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience
- Functional understanding of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid systems, or shipboard systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance
- Career experience in marine, naval, or defense engineering
- +3 Years of experience with ship design, piping, HVAC, propulsion support, or auxiliary mechanical systems
- Professional Engineering or Engineer in Training certification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another applicable discipline
- Proficiency in using industry-standard computer aided design, engineering analysis software tools, and Microsoft Office applications
- Exposure to U.S. Navy, shipbuilding, or maritime industry standards
