Job description

Summary

Leidos is seeking Software Developers to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the development of the Alaska Automation Capability (AAC). The role involves designing and implementing software solutions in a cloud-based environment, focusing on developing containerized applications and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for software development activities both individually and as a member of a team including writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining source code within an Agile environment
  • Actively participate in daily stand-ups, Release Planning, and other related team activities
  • Write and execute unit and functional tests
  • Troubleshoot and participate in the resolution of technical issues in lab and operational environments
  • Provide support as needed for system engineering, test engineering, and system owner teams

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with less than 2 years of experience
  • Experience with Java programming language
  • Experience with React
  • Experience with Web development and commonly used front-end tools and languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion
  • Experience with common development tools and IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code, etc.)
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted software development tools and workflows (i.e. Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cloud-based systems
  • Knowledge of unit testing tools such as Junit and Mockito
  • Understanding of sound software development principles and practices
  • Ability to plan and prioritize personal tasking and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to obtain SF-85 Public Trust suitability determination
  • US citizenship required
  • Knowledge of or experience working within the Agile/SAFe framework
  • Knowledge of or experience with RESTful API, JSON, XML, XSD
  • Knowledge of or experience with Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot
  • Knowledge of or experience with Python programming language
  • Knowledge of or experience with Ansible playbooks and YAML
  • Knowledge of or experience with Linux shell scripting
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of or experience with MongoDB
  • Knowledge of air traffic control and flight services
