Job description

Summary

LMI is a digital solutions provider supporting federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and Veterans Health Administration. The Junior Power BI Developer will help develop, maintain, document, and validate Power BI dashboards and reports for training, workforce development, and program performance metrics, while supporting accessibility, governance, stakeholder requirements, and user acceptance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that clearly communicate key metrics and insights across ILEAD’s training and workforce datasets
  • Help create intuitive data visualizations using Power BI, applying best practices in layout, labeling, and user experience to make complex information easy to understand
  • Write basic DAX calculations and measures to support reporting requirements and ensure accurate metrics across dashboards
  • Work from established semantic models and data structures, applying appropriate filtering, relationships, and visual-level transformations
  • Follow and apply standardized Power BI report templates, visual design conventions, and branding guidelines across all reporting products
  • Maintain and organize Power BI workspaces, including publishing updates, versioning, documentation, and basic access management
  • Document dashboards and reports, including purpose, audience, data sources, refresh schedules, and change history
  • Assist in ensuring all dashboards meet Section 508 accessibility standards, including color contrast, readable formatting, and compatibility with assistive technologies
  • Support paginated report development as needed, including layout configurations, dataset connections, and parameter setup
  • Participate in requirements discussions with stakeholders to capture reporting needs and translate them into clear technical specifications
  • Conduct quality checks and basic validation on data visualizations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with defined requirements
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including testing visual elements, logging defects, and verifying resolutions
  • Provide basic ad hoc reporting support, generating quick-turn visualizations or summaries based on stakeholder requests

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, information systems, computer science, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience working with Power BI, including dashboard development and basic data modeling concepts
  • Foundational knowledge of DAX and Power Query
  • Understanding of data visualization best practices and effective communication of analytical findings
  • Ability to learn and apply federal data governance, reporting standards, and accessibility requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality analytical outputs
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or semantic data models
  • Familiarity with Section 508/WCAG accessibility guidelines
  • Experience supporting user testing, quality assurance, or iterative dashboard updates
  • Exposure to large datasets or enterprise reporting environments
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem including Teams, SharePoint, and Power Platform
