Job description

Summary

Mapjects provides a centralized operations portal with ERP, distribution, logistics, data analysis, and visualization products for small and midsized businesses. The company is seeking Javascript developers to own frontend UI and UX, develop features and workflows, maintain portals and widgets, improve performance, and create interactive data visualizations. The role also involves organizing and refactoring code, writing tests and documentation, and collaborating with the web and design team.

Responsibilities

  • Developer’s work: includes recommendations (for e.g. exp on changing framework, ASP MVC to Node/Angular), feature development, web workflows, data visualization, interactive charts, portals extensions, widgets
  • Own what happens inside of the browser - from performance issues to UI interactions
  • Upgrades
  • Merge/consolidate the front-end
  • Start from scratch
  • Helping us organize and template the code, followed by widgeting or portal maintainenece
  • Writing and editing code in JS
  • Status UI: Display job specific information in the status UI
  • File Upload progress UI for each file being uploaded to the server, Support drag and drop of files in the UI
  • Language selection settings
  • Use Knockout JS for the entire UI and implement the MVVM methodology in the entire UI code
  • Clean up existing script code (e.g., use proper naming conventions for variables rather than naming them “I”, “j”…)
  • Defects fixing
  • Update UI library versions (e.g. jQuery, jQuery UI, jqGrid) when new versions come out
  • Validate that the updates made do not break the UI
  • Write unit tests for all UI code using QUnit. Interact with the Shanghai test team for web app UI features and known issues. Demo new features to team members
  • Create high-level documentation of the UI scripts
  • Add code level comments to all scripts you create/have created
  • Learning new javascript frameworks for data visualization
  • Creating custom functionality for WordPress—using code, not (just) plugins
  • Working with Git, using Github, using a staging server
  • Doing basic VPS management as needed
  • Navigating the cruft, refactoring it if you have to
  • Writing smart, readable, well-documented code
  • Using APIs for social, analytics, and third-party services
  • Turning designs into code
  • Keeping up with trends in web development and online services
  • Taking on new challenges

Skills

  • The ideal Mapjects candidate is someone who can own what happens inside of the browser - from performance issues to UI interactions
  • They are a DOM master and have vast experience working with mobile devices
  • In this position, Mapjects, is seeking two talented and motivated **Javascript developers (frontend UI, UX, all user interactions)** to perform functions such as - 1) upgrades 2) merge/consolidate the front-end or 3) start from scratch
  • The core of the developer's job is writing and editing code in JS, (we like to hear SASS, CSS, jQuery UI, D3, Underscore, etc) and a few other frameworks, especially HighCharts
  • Web Software Engineer with the following development experience (all are required):
  • A. Web Framework: ASP.net (MVC and Web API)
  • B. SQL
  • C. Client side technologies: Javascript, jQuery, KnockoutJS, HTML5, CSS3
  • D. Architecture: Experience implementing web based software using MVC and MVVM concepts
  • Core skill needed is Javascript, Jquery UI, JSON, BigData understanding, Postback, BS 3.1, (eCommerce is a plus)
