Summary
NEI Electric Power Engineering is an engineering services firm that serves clients and solves engineering problems. The Electrical Engineer will perform design and analysis for utility-scale battery energy storage systems under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform detailed physical and electrical design and engineering for all aspects of battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Typical design products might include BESS equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bill of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, illumination plans, etc
- Prepares computer-based models and performs power system studies on utility scale BESS projects as required
- Typical electrical power system studies might include BESS equipment sizing, specification, and selection, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, etc
- Writes material, equipment, and construction specifications
- Reviews spec sheets and submittals for conformance with specifications and design
- Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies
- Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports, as required
- Reviews the work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for general quality and accuracy, as required
- Maintains a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards
- Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics
- Maintains high ethical and professional standards
- Works additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as required
- Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
- Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
- Other job-related responsibilities as assigned
Skills
- Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
- Experience: 1 – 4 years of relevant engineering or field experience
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
- Good interpersonal and people skills
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be required
- Typical: 15 – 25%
- Must be able to lift 25lbs
- Experience with utility-scale BESS
- Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, electrical power system study software (PowerFactory, ETAP), CYMCAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, Visual Lighting, etc
- Experience with 3D BIM design software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software
- Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
