Summary
Nokia is a global leader in connectivity for the AI era. They are seeking a Photonics Layout and Tooling Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge silicon photonics integrated circuits through design, fabrication, testing, and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain applications and scripts to automate tools and workflows within the photonic chip fabrication process
- Oversee and manage the assembly and build processes for reticles used in photonic chip manufacturing, ensuring quality and efficiency
- Understanding of semiconductor or photonic chip manufacturing processes, particularly related to reticle assembly and fabrication
- Implementing design rule checking and design for testing checks
- Experience with manufacturing automation concepts and protocols (e.g., GDS, DRC, DFT) is highly desirable
- Maintain and version photonic component process design kits (PDKs)
Skills
- 2-4 years of related experience
- Strong background in Python, C++, software scripting or software development
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Knowledge of optical design software and CAD tools (e.g. Lumerical suite and Klayout)
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices, including testing, debugging, and deployment
- Statistics background for implementing useful correlations, plots, charts
- Comfortable in a remote/server/Linux environment. Background in parallel programming (multithreading and multiprocessing) is a plus
- Experience with SQL database systems
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with directing and reviewing agentic AI systems
