Job description

Summary

NuScale Power is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support the advancement of its nuclear steam supply system design. The role performs thermal-hydraulic, transient, structural mechanics, and flow-induced vibration analyses, prepares and reviews engineering calculations and reports, and collaborates across disciplines to resolve technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Uses thermal-hydraulic software and engineering tools to perform analyses on the design and performance of NSSS systems
  • Perform and check engineering evaluations in accordance with NuScale company procedures, by applying sound engineering thermal hydraulics and structural mechanics fundamentals, including familiarity with standard system analysis software (e.g. RELAP, ANSYS, GOTHIC)
  • Prepare, check, and review calculations and reports in the field of flow-induced vibration
  • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams
