Summary
ONO is a company that designs tools aimed at enhancing mental wellbeing through tactile experiences. They are seeking a Junior Industrial Designer to contribute to designing the next generation of products, working closely with the founder and managing the design process from initial sketches to manufacturable models.
Responsibilities
- Design new fidget concepts, from rough sketches through refined, manufacturable 3D models
- Model and iterate in Fusion 360, thinking through mechanisms, tolerances, and materials
- Apply light engineering judgment so products feel right in the hand and hold up in production
- Prototype, test, and refine based on how the object actually performs
- Design packaging that feels as considered as the product inside it
- Prepare files and specs to hand off to print and manufacturing partners
- Design our trade show booth and physical presence for events
- Translate the ONO look into physical spaces, displays, and fixtures
- Create graphic assets across product, packaging, and brand as projects require
- Present and communicate concepts clearly through sketches, renders, and short decks
- Walk the founder and partners through your thinking so decisions move quickly
Skills
- Portfolio: physical product design work, ideally toys, gadgets, or everyday-carry objects, showing both form and function
- Fusion 360: working proficiency, including modeling for manufacture
- Product instinct: a real feel for how things work, not just how they look
- Sketching: strong hand skills and the ability to explain ideas visually
- Communication: comfort presenting concepts and talking through tradeoffs
- Independence: enough experience to own a design and make sound calls with light supervision
- Part-time reliability: you keep work moving on a flexible schedule and flag blockers early
- Education: degree in industrial or product design, or equivalent hands-on experience. Experience matters more than the credential
- Packaging, graphic design, or exhibit and booth design experience
