Summary
Penn State University is seeking DevSecOps Research and Development Engineers to join their team in the Applied Research Laboratory. The role involves designing secure automation solutions, managing integration pipelines, and collaborating with team members to address project-level activities.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure automation solutions for development, testing, and production environments
- Manage continuous integration and delivery pipeline to maximize efficiency
- Improving systems through updates and optimizations using various technologies
- Present program overviews, proposals, and technical briefings at internal and external events
- Coordinate with sponsors and team members to identify risks, issues, requirements, and design solutions for project-level activity on a day to day basis
Skills
- Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Ansible
- Experience with version control software such as Git
- Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with logging, search, and/or aggregation tools such as Splunk, Elastic, or Prometheus
- Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management
- Well-organized, independent and ready to work with minimal supervision
- Bachelor's Degree - Engineering or Science
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- No prior relevant work experience required (if filled as R&D Engineer - DevSecOps (ARL) - Professional)
- U.S. citizenship to apply
- Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance
- Participation in the ARL drug testing program
- Compliance with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors
- Working with Atlassian products (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence)
- Working knowledge in Java, C/C++, and Matlab
- Familiarity with VMWare virtualization tools
- Familiarity with GitLab
- Experience with databases such as SQL, PostreQL, and MySQL
- Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services
