Summary
Piping Rock Health Products is a global vitamin and supplement manufacturer focused on quality wellness products. The Category Development Manager oversees product lifecycles across direct-to-consumer, eCommerce, and retail channels, using consumer, shopper, market, and sales data to develop category strategies and actionable recommendations that drive growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage category performance and product lifecycles, from new product development through discontinuation
- Analyze assortment, competitors, consumer insights, and sales trends to identify growth opportunities
- Drive new product launches in partnership with Sales, Marketing, and Creative
- Maintain accurate product data and category hierarchies
- Manage vendor relationships, pricing, and promotional opportunities
- Partner with Marketing on email, promotions, SEM, SEO, and on-site search content
- Use category reviews and broker partnerships to support retail growth
- Forecast performance and present actionable recommendations
- Conduct advanced Excel analysis, including duplication and transferability assessments
- Work effectively across multiple systems and platforms
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills
- 2+ years of category management, merchandising, or retail analytics experience, preferably within CPG, health and wellness, or eCommerce
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, Vlookups, data analysis, and reporting
- Strong PowerPoint skills with the ability to create clear, executive-ready presentations
- Extensive experience using syndicated data platforms, such as Circana/IRI or NielsenIQ, to evaluate category trends, consumer behavior, and competitive performance
- Strong retail and analytical mindset with the ability to turn complex data into actionable business recommendations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to share insights across teams and with senior leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or a related field preferred
