Summary
Pirate Ship provides simple shipping software that gives small businesses access to discounted shipping rates. The Paralegal will assist the General Counsel with contracts, legal research, intellectual property, compliance, corporate governance, document management, and administrative legal support in a remote-first environment.
Responsibilities
- The Paralegal will be responsible for assisting the General Counsel in managing all legal matters of the tech company, including contract drafting and reviewing, intellectual property management, compliance, and corporate governance. This role requires a combination of administrative and legal skills to support the legal function effectively within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Maintain an organized and up-to-date document management system to ensure timely compliance with legal obligations and deadlines
- Conduct extensive legal research and analysis on various topics, such as regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and commercial law. Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its operations
- Assist in managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Work with external counsel and internal stakeholders on intellectual property matters, such as registrations, renewals, and enforcement actions
- Assist in corporate governance matters, including preparing documents for meetings, maintaining corporate records, and ensuring compliance with governance policies and procedures. Support compliance efforts by assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and training programs
- Provide support to the team by organizing documents and coordinating cross-functionally and with outside counsel. Provide general administrative support to the General Counsel, such as scheduling meetings, maintaining legal files, and handling correspondence

Skills
- 2-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a technology company or law firm, with exposure to intellectual property, contracts, and corporate law
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in legal document drafting and review
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and legal research tools and project management tools
- Paralegal certification
- Familiarity with the technology industry and related legal issues
- Proficiency with Adobe, Pitch, Slack, Notion, Asana, and Docusign
