Software Development Engineer

Summary

Freedom Space Technologies, Inc. is a subsidiary of ATLAS Space Operations, focused on enhancing National Security Space capabilities. As a Software Development Engineer, you will develop a complex ground system for the United States Space Force and other U.S. Government customers.

Responsibilities

• Achieve expertise in the existing Freedom Platform codebase
• Develop new software features and maintain existing code
• Conduct peer reviews with focus on quality assurance and security
• Practice strong code coverage through unit and integration testing
• Show potential to champion new software projects for system enhancement
• Build the codebase with consideration for security, maintainability, and employability
• Support Operations in anomaly investigations and on-call duties
• Write excellent customer-facing software documentation
• Write code adhering to security best practices (e.g. OWASP Top 10)
• Eliminate coding vulnerabilities (e.g. SQL injection, buffer overflows)
• Regularly assess third-party libraries and tools for known vulnerabilities

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Excellent programming skills in Java, Rust, Python, or other languages
• 1-3 years of experience in software development
• Experience interfacing with various data sources: SQL, NoSQL, RESTful APIs
• Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Familiarity with satellite communications concepts and methods
• Possess or be eligible for a Top-Secret Clearance
