Summary
SAIC is seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our team in providing direct support to the Maneuver Battle Lab located at Fort Benning, GA. This role involves advancing the U.S. Army's simulation capabilities through software development activities, including functional analysis, coding, and systems integration.
Responsibilities
- Perform functional analysis to translate software specifications into robust application software
- Develop, test, and integrate software solutions related to advanced information technologies
- Read, produce, and maintain high-quality Java code
- Identify and correct simulation errors, as well as coding new functionality to meet project requirements
- Utilize and manage Git Repositories for all software development activities
- Collaborate with a specialized team to apply High Level Architecture (HLA), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) protocols, and other emerging standards to create and enhance simulation federations
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements implementation, interface and data architecture design, validation, verification, and final systems integration
Skills
- Bachelor's degree with 0 years' experience. Additional years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree
- High proficiency in Java coding is required
- Must be proficient with Git Repositories
- Proficiency in both Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems is essential
- Some knowledge of Agile technical practices
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Candidate must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A keen attention to detail and a commitment to completeness
- The ability to work effectively under deadlines
- 1+ year of relevant coding experience
