Summary
Second Front Systems is a public-benefit software company developing secure software for government and regulated networks. The People Operations Specialist manages core employee lifecycle processes, HRIS records, benefits, leave administration, compliance, and employee support while partnering with IT, Security, and other teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, and employment status changes with accuracy and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS platforms (Justworks, Lattice, Ashby) and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment law
- Orchestrate benefits enrollments, terminations, open enrollment, and leave of absence tracking (FMLA, ADA, parental leave)
- Serve as primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, policies, and employment verifications
- Partner with IT and Security teams to coordinate access provisioning and deprovisioning, ensuring compliance alignment
- Contribute to HR process documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives

- This is a full-time position
- 3–5 years of experience in People Operations, HR Specialist, or similar HR support role
- Demonstrated proficiency in HRIS or PEO platforms (Justworks, Lattice, Ashby, Rippling) and comfort working with data
- Hands-on experience managing onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and leave of absence workflows
- Knowledge of employment law, multi-state compliance, and leave administration (FMLA, ADA)
- Experience supporting a remote or hybrid workforce in a fast-paced, distributed environment
- U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements; residency in approved hiring hub (DC/Maryland/Virginia, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill NC, Denver/Colorado Springs CO, or Dallas/Fort Worth TX)
