Summary
SimSpace serves as an AI Proving Ground that helps organizations train, test, and improve defenses against cyber adversaries. The Cyber Range Engineer will architect, deploy, and maintain cloud-based cyber ranges and training environments, developing scalable infrastructure, automation, security controls, monitoring, and documentation for realistic security simulations.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain local and cloud-based cyber range architectures that support multiple concurrent training scenarios and user sessions
- Develop automation frameworks for rapid deployment, teardown, and reset of range environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
- Create emulated cloud services and resources when direct cloud integration isn't feasible or cost-effective
- Maintain security controls and network isolation to prevent range escape or resource abuse
- Be an expert on SimSpace software providing guidance and documentation for many different use cases
- Develop and maintain documentation for range architectures, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Occasional travel to other customer or partner locations (estimated 10%) may be required in the future

- Expertise in networking knowledge including:
- Virtual networking architecture and segmentation subnets, routing)
- Network security and access control (firewalls, security groups, NACLs)
- Secure connectivity solutions (VPN and direct connectivity solutions)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Puppet and Ansible
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and virtual machine deployment
- Experience with cloud and cloud-based technologies
- Familiarity with enterprise IT architectures and common business applications
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex infrastructure issues
- Exemplary documentation and technical communication abilities
- Strong customer interaction skills
- Knowledge of security concepts and best practices for isolated environments
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Network engineering certification a plus
- Familiarity with VMware, NSX-T a plus
