Job description

Summary

Southwest Airlines is an airline company offering a Summer 2027 Technology Analyst Internship within its Technology Department. The intern will support technology project delivery through needs analysis, requirements gathering, solution development, testing, deployment, stakeholder communication, and project coordination across business and technology teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business Customers to conduct needs analysis relative to systems and business processes in order to create quality technical solutions
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with internal tooling, business strategies and comply with departmental standards
  • Manage timeframes for designing, coding, testing, and implementing to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget
  • Serve as a resource to ensure effective communications between business and Technology Teams
  • Participate in systems and acceptance testing

Skills

  • Coursework or experience with AWS and/ or other cloud services
  • Coursework or experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as AWS X-Ray
  • Coursework or experience using Jira, SharePoint, or similar collaboration and work management tools
  • Coursework or experience with Microsoft Copilot and AI productivity tools
  • Coursework or experience with Agile principles, project-based work
  • Coursework or experience related to project management principles and practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer service-oriented environment with a high regard for hospitality
  • Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required
  • Progress towards degree, major, or minor in MIS, Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Information Technology, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or similar degree
  • Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree or graduate degree is required
  • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your university) at the time of application and during the internship
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application is required
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments under tight deadlines preferred
  • Previous internship or work experience as a Technology Analyst Intern within the past 12 months preferred
  • Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills preferred
  • Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous, and compassionate preferred
  • 1-2 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred
