Summary
The State of Vermont's Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Motor Vehicle Tax Field Auditor II. The role conducts audits and investigations related to Vermont tax law compliance, provides taxpayer technical assistance and education, and travels frequently to taxpayer locations and other parts of the state.
Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for auditing and investigations involving the enforcement of Vermont Tax Laws relating to taxpayer compliance with the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and International Registration Plan (IRP)
- This unit also audits fuel tax, rental companies, rail, IFTA, and IRP revenues of approximately several hundred million dollars annually
- This position also provides taxpayer technical assistance and education for auditees
- The selected candidate will have a home-based office and will be required to travel frequently, and may be required to travel to other parts of the State as well

- Three (3) years or more of college coursework in accounting, auditing, business administration, or related field
- Two (2) years or more of experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or business administration
- One (1) year or more of experience as a MV Tax Field Auditor I or higher with the State of Vermont
