Job description

Stifel strives for a culture that puts its clients and associates first: a culture where everyone belongs, everyone is welcome, and everyone contributes to the success of our clients, their careers, and the firm as a whole.

Let’s talk about how you can find your place here at Stifel, where success meets success.

Stifel's Information Security teams provide enterprise oversight of cybersecurity risk, protecting sensitive data and critical systems through governance, risk management, policy oversight, and strategic security initiatives. The teams help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets while partnering across the firm to strengthen cybersecurity practices and regulatory readiness.

As Stifel expands its use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, the Information Security organization continues to advance its capabilities in AI governance, secure adoption, risk oversight, and automated control frameworks. Interns will gain exposure to these emerging initiatives while contributing to the firm's evolving approach to cybersecurity and AI risk management.

This internship provides meaningful experience across multiple cybersecurity disciplines, with an emphasis on information security risk management, governance, AI security, and enterprise oversight. Interns will work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals on initiatives that influence security strategy, technology governance, and organizational resilience.

  • Identify business processes and technology initiatives that may benefit from enhanced Information Security governance, AI capabilities, or automation.
  • Support security assessments, tabletop exercises, governance reviews, and evaluation of automated control effectiveness.
  • Participate in AI risk assessments focused on model governance, data protection, regulatory considerations, and operational resilience.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of Information Security policies, standards, governance documentation, and assessment frameworks.
  • Conduct research and analysis related to cybersecurity risks, emerging threats, AI technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate regulatory guidance and industry frameworks to help ensure Information Security policies and standards remain aligned with evolving expectations.
  • Support cross functional cybersecurity and governance initiatives by preparing analysis, documentation, presentations, and project deliverables.
  • Complete research, documentation, reporting, and administrative assignments in support of Information Security initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technology, business, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and participation in technical, analytical, previously internships or cybersecurity related activities.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals, including risk management, network security, data protection, governance, and security operations.
  • Interest in AI, automation, data analytics, or emerging technologies. Experience with Python, Power BI, RPA platforms, or machine learning tools is beneficial.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, security policies, governance practices, or industry standards such as NIST.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • At least two years of undergraduate coursework completed prior to the start of the internship.
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, AI governance, technology risk, automation, or information security.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Exposure to AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or Azure AI is helpful.
