Applied Scientist Internship

Summary

Strayos is a company that uses advanced computer vision and machine learning to build insights for the Mining, Infrastructure, and Construction industry. They are seeking exceptional students for an Applied Scientist internship to work with their applied science team, learning to implement remote sensing and machine learning techniques to solve research questions.

Responsibilities

• Leverage our Python-based platform to query, access, and manipulate aerial imagery
• Utilize machine learning or other classification techniques to analyze aerial imagery
• Produce clear, concise results (e.g. ML models, statistics) for a project that can be completed during the course of the internship

Skills

• Candidates must currently be enrolled in an academic degree program in Geography, Geoscience, Earth Science, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related field, within 1 year of completion
• Experience with Python & Numpy
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently
• Experience with machine learning and image classification
• Proficiency with the following Python packages: numpy, scikit-learn, keras
• Experience working with aerial or satellite imagery and geospatial data
