Summary
Technology Partners is seeking an Engineer 2 to support database management operations. The role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, monitoring, tuning, securing, and supporting production and non-production databases, while collaborating with stakeholders and participating in on-call and after-hours maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production and non-production databases according to application specifications
- Monitor daily database activities, including performance tuning, growth, patching, and security configurations
- Perform database backups and recoveries, utilizing tools like Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN)
- Optimize SQL and PL/SQL queries to improve overall database performance
- Create and maintain UNIX Shell scripts to automate routine tasks
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend technology improvements
- Document system configurations, procedures, and operational workflows
- Participate in on-call support to resolve database issues outside regular business hours
Skills
- • 3-5+ years of Oracle database development and administration experience in a fast-paced production environment
- • Strong knowledge of relational databases such as Postgres and SQL Server
- • Expertise in SQL tuning and optimization of query plans
- • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Pg/SQL coding
- • Experience implementing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN
- • Proven ability to create, update, and maintain UNIX Shell scripts
- • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- • Ability to participate in on-call rotations and support application releases outside normal hours
- • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
- • Strong oral and written communication skills, including documentation
- • High School Diploma or equivalent
- • Experience with ASM and DynamoDB is a plus
- • Familiarity with vector databases is a plus
- • Knowledge of cloud-based database services or additional scripting languages
- • Prior exposure to multi-database environments or enterprise-level data architecture
- Relevant technical certifications preferred
