Summary
The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking a people analytics professional to join its Human Capital Analytics team as a research associate. The role uses statistical and social science research methods to analyze employee data, produce reports and visualizations, and support strategic and operational talent decisions across recruiting, assessment, development, management, and retention.
Responsibilities
- Use inferential statistics and social science research methods to conduct internal studies for business leaders, enabling them to make data-informed decisions about their people
- Run analyses with people data, write reports that weave insights together into a compelling narrative, and develop visualizations for an executive audience
- Work on a range of people analytics projects related to recruiting and talent assessment, development, management, and retention
Skills
- A bachelor's degree or higher and at least three years of relevant work experience analyzing data in a business setting
- Proficiency managing and analyzing data in Python required
- A demonstrated foundation in statistics
- A willingness to dive into details, collaborate effectively, and drive projects to completion, along with the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information
- Interest in generative AI and a desire to use it to improve and reimagine tools, workflows, and deliverables
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and intermediate SQL skills are preferred
- Experience in social science research methods is preferred
- People analytics experience is preferred but not required
