Summary
The Voleon Group is a technology company applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to investment management and finance. The Tax Associate will support the tax function for flagship funds across complex, multi-entity structures by assisting with tax compliance, investor tax reporting, external advisor coordination, tax research, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Perform first level review of tax returns, Schedule K-1s, workpapers, and supporting schedules prepared by external advisors, summarizing and flagging items for Tax Manager review
- Assist in maintaining the tax compliance calendar, trackers, and supporting documentation across all entities, proactively flagging deadlines for annual filings, registrations, and tax notices to ensure timely, accurate compliance
- Help coordinate the collection, tracking, and review of tax documents and related investor requests
- Prepare ad-hoc special projects and tax-related requests from various investors with accuracy and timeliness
- Support tax process improvement through automation, documentation, and internal knowledge to increase efficiency
- Assist with researching tax issues and regulatory changes relevant to existing and future funds
- Provide support to the Fund Accounting team on various tasks during the off-peak tax season
Skills
- 1–3 years of tax experience
- Strong understanding of partnership taxation and related reporting
- Strong abilities in Microsoft Excel
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Preferably at a Big 4 or national accounting firm
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state income tax compliance for partnerships (Form 1065)
- Corporate (Forms 1120) experience is a plus
- Experience with both onshore (U.S.) and offshore (Cayman) fund structures is a plus
