Job description

Summary

Thermo Systems is a global, full-service control systems integration partner delivering automation solutions in the District Energy, Life Sciences, and Mission Critical markets. The Controls Technician I provides technical support for control system projects and service teams, assisting with installations, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, documentation, and customer support. The role requires extensive overnight travel to client locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in project installation, start-up and commissioning of control systems
  • Perform instrument loop checks and calibrations
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of control systems
  • Assist in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Wire instruments and control panels
  • Develop basic understanding of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications
  • Develop startup and troubleshooting skills with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications
  • Develop startup and troubleshooting skills with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications
  • Read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams
  • Practice procedures outlined in the company’s Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Accurately document work performed
  • Develop basic understanding of control system design
  • Develop basic understanding of electrical and mechanical system design
  • Develop basic understanding of Information Technology (IT) system, network infrastructure, and computer system design, as it relates to control system integration
  • Communicate in an effective, positive, and proactive manner with customers
  • Follow customer specific site standards and procedures

  • Be patient, attentive, and responsive to customers in solving their problems

  • Associate in Applied Science or Associate in Science in Engineering Technology, Computer Information Systems Technology, relevant curriculum or experience
  • Typically, 0-3 years of industry experience
  • Listens closely and actively seeks knowledge from senior staff members
  • Able to solve problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft operating systems and Office tools
  • Possess and apply hands-on electrical and mechanical skills
  • Proficient with multimeter, signal generators, and other hand tools
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located is required
  • Maintain a valid drivers license
