Wordpress Application Developer, Tier 1

thunder::tech is a marketing solutions company that empowers midsize brands through integrated strategies. They are seeking a detail-oriented WordPress Developer to build, customize, and maintain WordPress-based websites that are performant, accessible, and easy to manage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites
• Build custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet project requirements
• Implement designs with attention to responsiveness, accessibility, and performance
• Integrate WordPress with third-party services, APIs, and marketing tools
• Maintain and optimize WordPress databases and site performance
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve site issues across environments
• Collaborate with designers, front-end developers, and project managers
• Provide project updates and technical guidance to internal teams
• Stay current with WordPress core updates, plugin ecosystems, and security best practices

Skills

• Strong experience developing with WordPress
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience creating custom themes and plugins (not just page builders)
• Understanding of WordPress performance, security, and deployment best practices
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3 years of professional WordPress development experience
• Experience working with modern WordPress workflows, including: Custom themes (block or classic), plugin development, git-based source control
• Familiarity with hosting platforms, staging environments, and deployment workflows
