As a Frontend Engineer Intern on this team, you'll get a front-row seat to how platform-level products are built and operated at massive scale. You'll gain exposure to systems that power partner logins, data exchange, content sharing, and more — all while working alongside a team that values curiosity, technical depth, and clean code.

Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the front-end team to build reusable UI components, internal tools, and features that support TikTok Open Platform
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with attention to scalability and performance
  • Participate in daily standups, code reviews, and technical discussions to understand how platform-level products are built and maintained
  • Debug and optimize frontend code with a solid grasp of browser behavior, HTTP request/response patterns, and modern development tools
  • Contribute to real product development efforts under the guidance of experienced engineers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during the Summer of 2026
  • Basic understanding of web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Willingness to learn modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React or Vue)
  • Curiosity about how things work — for example, understanding how an HTTP request is structured and how to debug it
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion through side projects, personal websites, or contributions to open source
  • Familiarity with browser debugging tools and network analysis
  • Passion about techniques and solving challenging problems
  • Graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $42.75/hour.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
