Job description

Summary

Ulteig is an engineering partner focused on developing critical infrastructure solutions across power and renewable energy. The Design Engineer will support utility-scale renewable projects by developing battery energy storage system designs, coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to optimized engineering, procurement, and construction packages.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal team and external clients to develop renewable project design/construction packages including BESS layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, collection system studies, and equipment installation details for Utility Scale renewable systems (50-500MW+)
  • Interact directly with clients for successful project execution
  • Design projects of multi-discipline teams of 2-4 people including a design engineer (focused on the layout, details, etc.), a system studies engineer, with additional support from CAD technicians
  • Support development of early-stage projects with conceptual designs and material take-offs
  • Contribute to continual development of internal engineering standards, toolsets and work processes
  • Turning initial system conceptual ideas into fully developed optimized EPC designs
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Must collaborate well with a team

Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering required or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in power systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to identify improvements and implement them, utilizing support from others
  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered
  • Due to the dynamic nature of the renewable energy market, the ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies is a must
  • The position requires the ability to effectively multi-task and manage numerous projects/tasks simultaneously, frequently within aggressive and compressed schedule
  • Ability to maintain project schedule and achieve target due dates
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients and external agencies
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S
  • Detailed design of Renewable BESS strongly preferred
  • Experience with CYMCAP preferred
  • Experience with ETAP and or EasyPower Preferred
  • Experience/familiarity with AUTOCAD or Revit is preferred but not necessary
  • Knowledge of BESS and or Wind systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices is strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license preferred
