Responsibilities

• Interns will work with the opinion editor to prepare guest columns and letters to the editor for publication in a fast-paced news environment
• Duties will include copyediting, fact-checking, headline writing, search engine optimization and social media work, including creating social videos to promote content
• Critical thinking and analytical skills will be encouraged and sharpened
• Interns will work independently and closely with the opinion editor to provide perspectives and insights for newsroom and companywide opinion projects identified by senior leadership as part of strategic growth initiatives

Skills

• Well-organized, detail-oriented, adaptable and flexible
• Excellent communication skills and command of the English language
• Degree-seeking students enrolled at a college or university preferred
• Applicants who have completed at least two years of college and at least one internship are preferred
