Job description

Position Announcement

UVU’s Center for Constitutional Studies (CCS) is seeking an experienced video specialist to coordinate, maintain, and generate content for the Center’s webpage and social-media accounts (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube). CCS web and social-media content support the Center’s mission to promote the instruction, study, and research of constitutionalism. The CCS video specialist works under the supervision of the CCS director of engagement.The Center for Constitutional Studies is a nonpartisan, academic institute that promotes understanding of the U.S. federal and state constitutions through scholarship, initiatives, and a full schedule of conferences, symposia, and lectures, featuring world renowned scholars, prominent judges and attorneys, and state and federal officials. The Center also leads the Civic Thought & Leadership Initiative to facilitate nonpartisan political discussion and provide civic education and research. Much of this initiative focuses on training K–12 educators. Guest speakers include Pulitzer Prize winning historians, David McCullough and Gordon Wood, former Utah Supreme Court justice Dallin H. Oaks, social-media and civics icon Sharon McMahon, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, and thought leader Arthur Brooks.The externally funded Center is preparing a new generation of students, teachers, citizens, and leaders with a rich understanding of and deep commitment to the founding principles of the United States.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with CCS faculty and staff, explores constitutional and civic law, issues, history, etc. to develop video-centric content for the web and social-media posts. Creates content to notify CCS stakeholders of CCS events, accomplishments, etc.
  • Creates video content for web and social media to notify CCS stakeholders of CCS events, accomplishments, etc. 
  • Posts content to CCS webpage and social-media platforms as directed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • Must be a current UVU student with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Must be able to work a schedule of at least 15 to 25 hours of work each week
  • Experience generating social-media content
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience producing professional-grade video content for web and social media
  • Knowledge of and interest in basic concepts in constitutional and/or American government, law, history, or politics

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of relevant social-media platforms.
  • Skills generating high-quality video content.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in video-editing (Adobe Premiere or equivalent.
  • Graphic-design experience is a plus (Illustrator, lnDesign, Photoshop or equivalents).
  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
