Summary
Valmont Industries, Inc. is a global leader in infrastructure and agriculture solutions that designs and builds products connecting and sustaining the world. The Civil/Structural Engineering Intern will support the North America Steel Design Engineering team through design and analysis work, cross-functional collaboration, troubleshooting, and applying engineering knowledge to manufacturable and efficient designs.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in design and analysis processes, recommending improvements to design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures
- Collaborate with team members from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering Services to understand the full product development process and assist in troubleshooting design challenges
- Apply and expand your design knowledge while considering manufacturability and efficiency of final designs
Skills
- Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
- Completion of Statics and Mechanics of Materials coursework
- Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings to 3D models
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Strength of Materials, along with advanced CAD skills and design application experience is highly preferred
