Summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking an Energy Storage Engineer to support their mission of providing clean energy solutions. The role involves planning, designing, and implementing energy storage projects, requiring a blend of technical expertise and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects
  • Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and work toward better design quality and efficiency
  • Resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts
  • Support projects from creation to completion by working with project managers
  • Influence project teams on engineering tasks
  • Stay updated on project progress and technical issues
  • Manage project milestones and recognize risks
  • Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment
  • Work with diverse teams to improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls
  • Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing and propose solutions
  • Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements
  • Travel 25% of the time for project specific responsibilities

Skills

  • 3+ Years experience Solar/PV Engineering and Construction
  • Expertise in one or more of these areas: Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design
  • Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections)
  • Familiarity with IEC 61215, 61646, 61730

Qualifications
